Northern California Association of Mothers of Twins Clubs
Convention
What a blast!
The NCA (Northern California Association of Mothers of Twins
Clubs) convention was in Sacramento, hosted by At
Wits End Mothers of Multiples. The theme was 70's Flashback and we
had so much fun. We got there Friday afternoon, and stayed through
Sunday morning, with lots of workshops, raffles, food, and visiting
with other moms of multiples from all over Northern California.

Bullard, Bonnie Covel, Laura Beilhes, Sue Petersen. Not pictured:

Friday Night Fever
Friday night, we enjoyed a dance and costume contest. Here's
Laura (far left) ready to party 70's style.
Pet Rocks
During the dance party, we made pet rocks, completed Mad Libs,
attempted some 70's trivia, and didn't quite make it to the Karaoke
machine.
Show, Tell, and Sell
During every convention, we take time out to shop (or sell).
Many clubs sell twin related t-shirts for adults and/or children.
Ask Laura Canavan to show you her Mother of Twins shirt. Cute!
Dion Pringle came and sold some of her beautiful baby
products.
Bonding
We were able to spend a lot of time bonding with members from
our club and others. Can you tell from the picture which
Co-President was drinking champagne and which stuck to Apple Cider?
Raffle Baskets
Every convention, the hosting club puts together (and other
clubs donate) around 80 raffle baskets. Winnings of the baskets
might include children's toys along with tickets for the zoo,
Exploratorium, Pier 39, or Disneyland.
SCMOM donated a Halloween basket that was overflowing with cups,
socks, stickers, pencils, placemats, and much, much more.
We entered on Friday with our one basket, and left on Sunday with
a total of 11 baskets, including the Disneyland tickets (which we
all put in for and Jean won)!
The Hypnotist
By far, the highlight of the weekend was when our very own Jean
was hypnotized for the hypnotist show. It may have been the funniest
thing I have ever seen!
The top left picture is Jean with her Martian, whom she loves
very much. His name is Blue and she can talk to him.
Top
right, Jean, believing she is 5 years old, is fighting with the
person next to her over a blue crayon.
The bottom pictures
show Jean doing the Vogue, auditioning to dance with Madonna. She's
quite good! She told the audience that she'd been dancing for 20
years "with a lot of different [famous] people." Who knew? Jean was
a great sport, and the funniest one up there, and gave us all a
great laugh.
Next Convention
We had so much fun and hope to have more people join us for the
next convention. I know it's hard to arrange childcare, but we could
all use a break. If you can't get away for the weekend, consider
coming out just for the day (Saturday).
We carpool and share rooms to split the cost and every member of
SCMOM is invited and encouraged to go with us.
The next convention will be at the Napa Valley Marriott from
March 24-25, hosted by the Solano Parents of Twins and Triplets
Club. The theme will be Days of Wine and Roses.
